Danger - Microwave Ovens

In a previous post I expressed the dangers of microwave ovens in general terms.  I received an email today that really brought the point home and I want to share parts of it and several links that you need to read.  I have been told for years to stop using any form of micro waves - that includes microwave ovens and cell phones....

I don't normally pay much attention to forwarded messages - and have learned to check snopes.com before I forward something that tugs at my heart... so, I have done my due diligence and have checked my references.

"Below is a science fair project. In it she took filtered water and divided it into two parts. The first part she heated to boiling in a pan on the stove, and the second part she heated to boiling in a microwave. Then after cooling she used the water to water two identical plants to see if there would be any difference in the growth between the normal boiled water and the water boiled in a microwave. She was thinking that the structure or energy of the water may be compromised by microwave. As it turned out, even she was amazed at the difference.
I have known for years that the problem with microwaved anything is not the radiation people used to worry about; It’s how it corrupts the DNA in the food so the body cannot recognize it. So the body wraps it in fat cells to protect itself from the dead food or it eliminates it fast. Think of all the Mothers heating up milk in these “Safe” appliances. What about the nurse in Canada that warmed up blood for a transfusion patient and accidentally killed them when the blood went in dead. But the makers say it’s safe. Never mind then, keep using them. Ask your Doctor I am sure they will say it’s safe too. Proof is in the pictures of living plants dying.
Remember You are also Living. Take Care.

Ten Reasons to Throw out your Microwave Oven
From the conclusions of the Swiss, Russian and German scientific clinical studies, we can no longer ignore the microwave oven sitting in our kitchens. Based on this research, we will conclude this article with the following:

1) Continually eating food processed from a microwave oven causes long term – permanent – brain damage by “shorting out” electrical impulses in the brain [de-polarizing or de-magnetizing the brain tissue].
2) The human body cannot metabolize [break down] the unknown by-products created in microwaved food.
3) Male and female hormone production is shut down and/or altered by continually eating microwaved foods.
4) The effects of microwaved food by-products are residual [long term, permanent] within the human body.
5) Minerals, vitamins, and nutrients of all microwaved food is reduced or altered so that the human body gets little or no benefit, or the human body absorbs altered compounds that cannot be broken down.
6) The minerals in vegetables are altered into cancerous free radicals when cooked in microwave ovens.
7) Microwaved foods cause stomach and intestinal cancerous growths [tumors]. This may explain the rapidly increased rate of colon cancer in America.
8) The prolonged eating of microwaved foods causes cancerous cells to increase in human blood.
9) Continual ingestion of microwaved food causes immune system deficiencies through lymph gland and blood serum alterations.
10) Eating microwaved food causes loss of memory, concentration, emotional instability, and a decrease of intelligence.
Have you tossed out your microwave oven yet?"

What's the Cause - 3?

Installment number three... this group is of the more serious diseases.  Remember, your body starts out with little warning signs - getting a cold, a headache, upset stomach, headaches, chronic illness is next... and it continues to escalate if you don't pay attention to the warning signs being given.  We all have the ability to resolve the issues at hand and make our life a healthy one.

Heart Disease - There are many other ailments that contribute to heart disease - diabetes, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol.  Smoking, drinking, and other self destroying lifestyles also play a big part.  How you handle stress, how often you eat our "standard" list of bad foods, how often you exercise make a difference as well.

Foods that will help heal as well as prevent heart disease include fresh fruit and vegetables that are high in antioxidants - dark green leafy vegetables, orange fruits & vegetables, onions, garlic. Other foods to consider lean meat, olive oil (instead of other kinds), whole grains, tuna, salmon, nuts and seeds.

Foods to completely remove from the diet include fatty meats, processed meats with nitrates (bologna, deli meat, sausage, and hot dogs), processed white sugar / flour, ice cream, fried foods, junk food, salt, and crackers.

Cancer - It is hard to pinpoint one thing that causes cancer since there are so many different types.  As in all things involved with Naturopathy - there are three things required - good mental health, good diet, and plenty of exercise.  Eating a well balanced diet high in leafy green vegetables and dark fruits, plenty of sunshine, exercise 30 minutes a day at least five days a week - if you are groaning with that idea - start slow, walking, biking, and grow to at least 30 minutes 3 - 4 days a week of cardio.

Certain foods are very well known for destroying cancer cells - asparagus, avocado, broccoli, Brussels sprouts, chili peppers, figs, flax seed, garlic, grapefruit, grapes, kale, licorice root, and carrots. Green tea has also been known to have cancer fighting capabilities.  Cancer weakens the immune system and so foods that strengthen the immune system also should be considered daily - foods high in antioxidants, vitamin C, vitamin B complex, vitamin E.

Mentally, one must believe they can be healed, that their change of diet, exercise and mental attitude will help heal their body.

Alzheimer's - Studies are showing that Alzheimer's disease is characterized by deposits of protein in and between nerves.  This again leads us to believe that dehydration plays a part in the cause of this debilitating disease.  There are also links to lifestyle and Alzheimer's - alcohol consumption, smoking, not getting enough sleep, and not getting enough mental stimulation.  Many of the same factors that cause heart disease, diabetes, and cancer are the same for Alzheimer's, as are the lifestyle changes needed.

Foods that are a must to fight Alzheimer's are the same ones that build strong nerve cells, strong immune system, and good mental health.  Vitamin B12 (snapper, tofu, venison, liver, sea plants, and miso) helps regenerate / strengthen nerve cells.  Vitamins B Complex, C, and E help build a strong immune system.  Ginkgo Biloba, Omega 3/6/9, Vitamin B Complex, along with plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables all work for brain power.

Tumors - these can be cancerous or non-cancerous in nature.  Since cancer has been addressed above, we will be focusing on non-cancerous (benign).  Like with cancer, there can be many many different reasons.  Take into consideration the type of tumor it  is.
Get more dark green vegetables into your system.  They also help reduce tumors of all kinds.  Especially Asparagus, Broccoli, and Spinach.  Build up your immune system – this is a MUST.  With any type of illness – especially tumors and long lasting illnesses your immune system has been weakened.  Vitamins C and B complex are essential to build that back up.  I would recommend 1 – 2 Emergen-C packets a day.  Before lunch.    In addition these foods/vitamins/herbs will help boost your immune system: any of your orange vegetables and fruits (rich in beta carotene), Crab, beans, turkey (all rich in Zinc), Apples, raisins, berries, plums, red grapes, onions (all rich in Vitamin E), garlic – get this in a gelcap if you don’t like garlic or don’t get much of it in your diet it is essential for a healthy immune system, Omega 3/9 – these are your fish oil and borage oils – both good oils that are vitally important to your body, turmeric – this can be found in mustard and curry and has been found to block bad cells from growing and multiplying, oregano – I am sure you are familiar with it – it has been found to fight bacteria and is an antimicrobial, ginger – is a warming herb and helps to energize the body, and green tea – there are more and more studies showing the health benefits of 2 – 3 cups of green tea a day – if you like the taste of Chai you also get the benefits of cinnamon, cloves, ginger and a host of other herbs – just make sure you get the GREEN TEA version.

Just as there are good foods for your immune system there are also damaging foods – the number one food is sugar – especially white processed sugar.  Instead use honey that is a natural antibiotic.  Excessive fat in your foods – processed foods, fast food, fried foods – all are terrible for your immune system.  Excessive alcohol too damages your immune system as it produces chemicals in the body that destroy good cells.  There are several herbal treatments as well… just remember with herbs – understand the pros and cons of each herb before taking it, and always start with a low dose and slowly increase.  Since your body’s immune system has been severely weakened, it is necessary to remove any toxins in your diet – artificial sweeteners, processed foods, fast foods, junk foods, sodas – stick to as holistic a diet as you can.  You also need to “clean” your environment as much as you can.  This means not only a deep clean of your home, but opening the windows – using NATURAL cleaners rather than harsh chemicals – these chemicals do not go away but stay in your air.  Most homes are more toxic inside than outside because we don’t open up the house and air it out.  You should air out your home at least once a month, no matter what the season.

SUPER foods - Vegetables

We are hearing more and more about "super fruits" and "super vegetables" but what does "super" mean? And why should we care?

Super Vegetables - vegetables are very important to keep our bodies alkaline, and give us energy.  There are several vegetables that are important to well being.  Vegetables have been known to help you live longer, have better brain function, sleep better, maintain a healthy weight, fight disease, and help you look younger.

Asparagus - is the number one superfood, in my opinion.  Asparagus, eaten daily, has found to destroy cancer cells, remove tumors, aid in sleeping, aid in female hormone balancing, promoting fertility, aid in weight loss, healing the liver, and stimulating and healing the kidneys among other things.  As a child I couldn't stand asparagus, I had only had it canned or frozen.  I absolutely LOVE it now... put fresh stalks in a frying pan with a little butter, sesame oil, garlic and pepper... grill until just bright - it doesn't take long.  Or put on the grill when cooking burgers, chicken, and/or steak.

This link has a great description of asparagus and its uses / benefits - http://www.herbsarespecial.com.au/free-herb-information/asparagus.html

Kale / Spinach - Dark green vegetables have so many health benefits.  Always try to eat your greens at lunch and take a walk afterwards.  The sun helps convert the phytoneutrients and provides the body a wonderful energy boost.  As for the benefits of Kale - Lessens occurrence of cancers (100’s of studies done worldwide), high in glucosinolates. (anti-carcinogens), excellent known cell detoxifier, lowers cataract risk, promotes lung health, protects against arthritis, slows loss of mental function.  Benefits of Spinach - fights blindness, helps prevent anemia, prevents tooth decay, prevents bladder disorders, aids in longer life, reduces the risk of diabetes, and prevents respiratory disorders.  Spinach was another of my "icky" vegetables as a child / teen.  I absolutely can't stand the taste of it cooked... even now.  But I have found a way to "cook" it and enjoy it.  I take a flavored tortilla (jalepeno & cheddar is my favorite) and put it in an omelette pan.  Spread half with feta cheese, pepper, and cayenne.  Turn on heat to medium and let the feta get warm.  Top with mushrooms, avocado, and spinach.  Fold the tortilla in half.  Cut into 1/3s and serve! Yumm..

Watercress - is a little known, easily grown green leafy vegetable.  You can find it naturally along lake and river beds.  It's taste is milder than spinach.  It's benefits are staggering - increases mental function / memory, helps to normalize cholesterol levels, helps to clean the blood of toxins, increases fertility, helps to fight cancer / kill cancer cells, helps fight eye disease, helps clear skin, helps strengthen bones, helps to fight lung disorders, and helps normalize thyroid function.  I like my watercress fresh and try to eat it in salads.

Avocado - Another of my "icky" vegetables from my youth - is now one of my favorites.  In truth it is a fruit not a vegetable, but since most people think of it as a vegetable, we will put it here.  In the spring and summer I eat one a day.  Avocados help promote healthy skin, increases metabolism, known to fight several types of cancer (oral, prostate, and breast), fights heart disease, helps prevent strokes, lowers cholesterol levels, helps promote healthy eyes / vision, and helps fight diabetes. I shared my favorite way of serving avocado above.  It is also fabulous in GOOD guacamole with lots of lime, chile, and cilantro.

Mushrooms - Specifically Shitake... again I KNOW... not REALLY a vegetable... :)  But will be added here.  Mushrooms as a whole are very benefitial to the body.  Shitake mushrooms are known for promoting long life, reducing cholesterol numbers, promoting a healthy heart, fighting cancer, fighting HIV and Hepatitus B, fighting nutritional deficiencies, and promoting a strong immune system.  Shitake mushrooms are usually found in good hot and sour soup... mmm...

Onions - Oh yes! They are a "super vegetable" for sure!  Onions have been used for centuries as a medicinal vegetable.  They fight colds and lung conditions, repel bugs, lower blood pressure, help promote a healthy heart, fight cancer and tumors, increase bone density and the health of all connective tissue, reduce obesity, reduce allergies, promotes long life, reduces inflammation, and promotes healthy hair, skin, and nails among other things.  French Onion Soup is AH-MAZING!  I have a great recipe if anyone is interested. :)

The best way to get the antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals out of vegetables is to lightly saute or stirfry your vegetables until just bright.  "Just bright" means that they have changed color.  This usually means they are still crisp or barely wilted.  Never overcook your vegetables or you will lose most of the nutritional value.

Did you know....

Good Morning!
I woke up thinking about quick and easy things that everyone can do to improve their overall health. So let's play "Did you know?"

Honey not only is the only food substance that will not spoil, but it is also a natural antibiotic. It can be used to heal cuts / scrapes / burns. It can be added to your hot tea when you have a cold. It helps fight allergies - especially if you purchase honey that has been cultivated locally.

Oatmeal helps lower cholesterol, and also helps your skin. It fights acne (soap), dries up weeping rashes (bath), and there are many health benefits of eating whole rolled oats for breakfast - cancer fighting phytochemicals, and diabetes fighting soluble fiber. Avocado is also amazing for your skin.

Asparagus is one of your "super" vegetables. It has been shown to destroy cancer and tumors in the body if eaten regularly. Asparagus helps the body remain alkaline and cancer can't live in an alkaline environment.

The pectin in apples and grapes helps strengthen your nails.

A combination of Eucalyptus oil (40 drops) and Lemongrass oil (20 drops) mixed in water in a 32oz spray bottle has a multitude of uses. If sprayed around your windows (inside and out) and along your doors, will naturally deter bugs, and kill any that pass across it. I spray my house about once every three months, or as soon as I start to see creepy crawlies. If used in the laundry (I put it in the final rinse), it will keep bugs away from your clothes, towels, sheets.

Onion and garlic are natural mosquito repellents. On the flip side - if you eat bananas in the summertime, the chemical reaction in your body attracts the nasty little buggers. I buy pellets and sprinkle the yard every three weeks. I don't want to kill the mosquitoes because the birds eat them and I love listening to the birds. I have found that they also keep away moles and armadillos. :) A side benefit for sure! Plant either or both around your roses and they will keep the aphids and bugs away.

Colloidal Silver is probably the most important natural product to have in your home. It is a natural antibiotic and a powerful healer. It works on ear aches, to MRSA one of the most aggressive and deadly staph infections there is.

Well, how did you do? Got any for me? How about ideas for posts or questions you would like answers to? TTFN! E
